Committee On Political Education
COPE is the means the IBEW uses to inform the membership of
the congressional records on those issues that impact working
men and women.
We all understand how the IBEW must organize the unorganized
to maintain conditions, because without this effort we would lose
our current status. So too must we organize our congressional
leaders, only in that way can the principle on which the entire
Labor movement rests, strength in numbers, be maintained. By
informing the membership of those in congress and their voting
records in relation to issues that impact Labor, we can in effect
organize our congressional members.
As members of a Labor organization ‘ We must help to elect
candidates to office whose views and ideals are sympathetic
with working men and women in our country, regardless of their
political party ’
